It's that time of year again. Trees are lit, presents are being wrapped, and relatives are coming to visit. That's right, it's time again for the 12 days of Christmas-- 2022 ITB Video Release Edition!

Today, Day 3's Videos from Into the Box 2022 Conference, 3 sessions related to modules. What are they, how do you build them, and a new module.

For the next 12 business days up until Christmas, we'll be releasing a series of related videos each day on the CFCasts site for our Paid and Unpaid CFCasts Subscribers, and a announcement with titles, descriptions, and links to the videos, right here on the Ortus blog. Consider it our early Christmas gift to you.

We were planning on releasing the videos on Dec 24th, but we couldn't wait any longer.

3 sessions related to modules. What are they, how do you build them, and a new module.

Dan Card - Unpacking The Box - Why so many boxes and what do they do. - FREE

There are a lot of “boxes”. What are they and what do they all do???? Are they all necessary??? Do I need to learn all of them???? This session will “tell the story” of all the boxes based on the problems they are trying to solve. We’ll start from the metaphorical “blank sheet of paper” at the beginning of a web project and we walk and talk through its planning and development, we’ll anticipate the real world snag and difficulties that we and the team will go hit and show how “there’s a box for that”.

Scott Steinbeck - Building Modules

Often times you have a common problem in development that you know there has to be a common solution to. If you come to the conclusion that there is not a solution easily available to you, your next option is to find a solution in another language, or build it yourself. The task seems daunting but I assure you it is easier than ever. In this session, you will learn about how to create a module from scratch and set it up to be used as a: standalone module, a coldbox module, or a commandbox module. You will also learn how to create a module as a wrapper (from a java library) or convert it from another language like javascript.

Dan Card - CFScribe - Rules and Filtering for your Logging

Complex Routing - cfScribe allows an almost infinite level of routing based on a wide variety of criteria including environment, environment variables, severity (fatal, error, warn, info, debug), Coldbox Settings, Module Settings, presence or value of HTTP headers, UDF.
